FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Below are some frequently asked questions and their answers.
If you don’t see the answer to yours, we encourage you to contact us at:

While we are very careful about who we let facilitate our courses, we’re committed to the idea that readers be motivated by their own questions and the desire to collaboratively learn from the texts—as opposed to the particular individuals stewarding the conversations.
This is part of the thinking behind our principle that “readers do not choose tutors, tutors do not choose readers, and members of reading groups do not choose one another. Readers choose a book to read or a course of study.”
It depends on the course: readers admitted to a course will be notified by their tutor or reading group leader if there is a required edition of the assigned text(s).
While readers may not participate in more than one tutorial per session, readers may participate in multiple reading groups if space allows. We prioritize accommodating as many readers as possible, so if you have already been enrolled in a course you are less likely to be enrolled in additional courses.
Each individual who would like to participate in our courses must submit their own application. Readers may indicate their desire to be placed in a group with a friend, relative, spouse, etc. in their application, however, we cannot guarantee that readers will be placed in the same group as those they would like to study with. Please let us know if you are unwilling to participate in a course if we cannot place your friend in it.
Enrollment decisions are usually made around three weeks after the application deadline. See our main page page for more specific dates.
If you haven’t heard from the tutor/reading group leader a week before their course is set to begin, check your spam folder, and then email us at: study@catherineproject.org.
Once we complete enrollment, we will send you an email specifying whether or not we were able to place you all of the courses that you selected as options. For each course in which you were placed, we will send you a separate confirmation email with more details about the given course.
Yes! You can do so here.
Upcoming events and important dates are listed on our main page. We also encourage you to sign up for our mailing list.
Course load met: When applying to study with us, readers can indicate that they’d like to be in up to 3 courses concurrently (but usually, due to demand, we are not able to place a reader in this many courses concurrently). If, for instance, a reader indicated that they would only like to be in 1 course during a given term, then once they are accepted into 1 course, the remainder of their ranked selections will be followed by the phrase “Course Load Met” in the placement email.
Accept: Accept means that you have been placed in a given course.
Waitlist: Waitlist means that you have placed on the waitlist for a given course.
